I love these animals!! They are endearing, rambunctious, curious, winsome and beautiful!
The images were made on two separate occasions in the winter of 2018 in Cimarron , New Mexico, at the foot of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
The first day of shooting, I heard them before I saw them. I had stopped on a windswept, narrow road outside of Cimarron to get the lay of the land and heard this odd, unexpected sound drifting towards me from the flat plain to the east. I twisted a telephoto lens into my camera to get a better look and there they were, far away, braying together in their own celebration. As I photographed they came closer and closer until they were literally on top of me.

Most orders are created as dye sublimation prints on Chromaluxe aluminum. I also offer the options of Fine Art archival paper prints, and face mounted acrylic.
