MESA SKY.

I am not much of a sleeper.  I get up early.  I make a fire in the wood stove and wait in the flickering darkness.

As dawn approaches I prepare my camera and tripod, move outside, and share the dissipating darkness with resident coyotes, ravens, jackrabbits and waking birds.

Most of these images are made here on the Taos Mesa at sunrise, a few at sunset.  Several are made on the Taos Plateau, just the other side of the Rio Grande Gorge.

Sky, mountains and high desert plain dominate here, dismantling pretense and ego….and emanating power,

peace and timelessness.
